I am really having a hard time....

coming to grips with my body after having Isabella. I hate myself for gaining all this weight - what is crazy is it really packed on at the end - I guess I should have been a little more careful about those strawberry newtons.

I didn't see it - I can't believe I didn't see 35 lbs! It is all in my butt and thighs. When I got preggo I was a 12/14 now I am lucky to squeeze into my 18/20s. I can't stand myself - and I am afraid I am starting to slip into depression. Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't trade Isabella for anything - but I feel like such a dumbass for doing this to my body.

Any tips on how to lose it?? Obviously I have cut out cookies, sugar, soda, starbucks and am only drinking water or 1% milk. I am back on my grilled fish, chicken, nuts,salad and fruits diet.

Please help me - I really need support and encouragement. I just hate myself.

Okay I am not there yet but I am giving what I think anyway and I am sure in a few weeks I will be in the same boat! lol

I think you need to give a little time WOMAN please you just had her and you are being to hard on yourself! Focus just like you are on eating the right things and in time I am postive you will be on the right track and back where you want to be!!!

I have decided I need to start cutting back RIGHT now as I am BAD on snacking too! not newtons but RICE KRISPIE treats!

And you can't hate yourself because we all LOVE you!!

OMG Beth - the past two weeks I've been obsessed with Rice Crispy Treats - I think I've bought 1 out of the vending machine at work 4 out of 5 working days and have made 2 batches at home *oye*

I know what you mean though... My body changed A LOT when I was pregnant with Zander... My butt & my thighs especially!! **UGH!!!** He's 6 1/2 months old now and I am about 30lbs lighter than I was when I first got preggers with him... But my BUTT & THIGHS are still nasty looking... My jeans and everything fit so differently than they used to... It does suck... And right now I am sooooo bloated looking because of my recent D&C and the tubal I had done...

I am trying to get back on track myself but am having a super hard time giving up the sodas especially... I feel like I NEED them to get thru the day sometimes and deal with everything... I also got into the habit of drinking while eating again which is BAD to do... I am trying to break myself of that but there are times I just still sit down with food and something to drink... It's a hard habit to break if you start again but it can be done....

It sounds to me like you are giving it some effort and thats great!! It will come off hon, but we all know that it doesn't happen overnight especially if you are further out from having WLS in the first place (I miss the "honeymoon phase" and all the quick loss!!!).... You still have the tool and it's all a matter of setting yourself up to succeed again with losing the weight... But you are on track, PROTEIN and lots of water... Some walking is always a great thing too....

Don't hate yourself hon... Think of where you were at one time and how far you've come... Yes, you've gained some weight (which happens with a pregnancy) but you have the tool still and the support system you need (US!!!)... So keep on keeping on and enjoy that beautiful little baby girl!!

First off, quit judging yourself for that... you JUST HAD A BABY!  You have water weight and things are going to shift around for a while.  9 months up, 9 months down, most people at least a year on the down...  Go slowly and take care of the both of you.  Sure, hide the newtons if it makes you feel better, but give yourself a break and try to make healthy choices when you can.  If you're worrying about that, you won't enjoy her, her newness, and all that comes with it just once in a lifetime.  Up your water, make sure you've got good snacks available for those late night cravings and take a deep breath.  When you're ready you can take the kids out for walks in the stroller and just keeping up with the two of them will surely burn calories!  Take care of yourself, and try not to stress right now.

I haven't had to deal w/post WLS pregnancy weight...but do believe it'll come down as you heal and get active again...especially if you're getting your eating habits back on track.  Be as patient w/yourself as your are w/your girls.  Chase Bailey around playing games w/her...and as Bella gets bigger, let her join in...that'll work it all off!

Hugs Dawn! Now take a step back and look at how long it's been since you had Bella...not long enough to miraculously drop 35 lbs. Every woman struggles with their post-baby body, EVERY woman. Not to mention hormones and sleep deprivation make for a bad combo of general feelings of poo about ourselves. Cut yourself a little slack and remember that guilt keeps us stuck in the past while forgiveness allows us to move toward the future.


That said, I am soooo struggling with this too. I go to my nutritionist today and need suggestions to get back on track. I ate and drank whatever stayed down for 9 months so I'm finding it hard to undo those habits. With a colicy baby and 2 other kids, I'm often stress eating and don't have time to sit. Enough of my gripes, just saying I'm in the same boat.


I'm thinking I need to do the accountability thread Jennifer started. I need to set goals, and stick to them without excuses. Gradual changes are best for me. The all-or-nothing approach tends to backfire for me. If you'd be interested, we can work on this together.

I know what you mean- it tears me apart everyday when I look at my body.  I battled so long to become healthy and to be able to be proud of being healthy and look good while I did..but I also really wanted children.  Children do change our bodies, that doesn't mean just weight wise..but our body shape..I think some of that like other things depend on gentics.  I have seen woman that look like they never went through pregnancy..  But most everyday woman, thighs, butt, tummy areas change.  It takes a long time to work that back down..maybe even a year.  But- the point is you did it before with WLS, and you can do it again. 

Personally, I was lazy and went through a lot of life changes (1 income, DH became disabled, etc) when I had Sophie and never got all of the weight off so it has just shifted all around.  I was 10 some 8's...but now I wear a steady 14 and with this pregnancy I am heavier already and wearing the sizes I did at the end of my first.  I hope stronge hope that I will get back on track and focus on being healthy again...even if that means my favorite post wls jeans will never fit again..I will have my beautiful kids..and be healthy non preggy woman soon. 

You can do it..one day at a time!

First of all, dont be too hard on yourself.You just had a baby sweetheart!!! The weight will come off for sure if you are back to eating as you said you are.
 Let me tell you what happened to me,im sorry this thread is not about me but just want to tell you.This happened in 1993,when my obesity begun.I was 113 pounds when i went in for my first visit for pregnacy.When I gave birth to my son I weighed 298,so I totally understand what you are going through and how you are feeling.
 You have only gained 35 and it will come off. Just think momma,you just had a beautiful baby girl and you are back to eating right so you can soon start shedding those pounds off.
 Sorry about my random rambling,but when i read your thread all this came to mind.

Sigggggggggh, I can relate. I am so depressed this morning, and hate myself. They changed my due date from Aug 2cd to the 10th so I just had my 34 week appt. and gained 9 pounds THIS month! I have gained 50 pounds and I have 6 weeks to go. I gained 70 with my daughter last year and I was so depressed about the weight after I had her I didnt even concentrate on her. When I gain weight it is in my butt/thighs as well. I look so wide and frumpy in the back. I am rounding the corner to 250 and I feel terrible. I think what you have done (cutting out junk) and eating fish, chicken, nuts is the perfect start. I lost the weight from my first in 7 months, but I starved myself and smoked alot of cigarettes. I already know I will need depression medication after this because I feel I need it now, but refuse to start while pregnant. Sorry I turned your post into my rant but I can very much sympathize with you and I was going to post something similar. Thanks for listening.
